TextQL is building the AI-native data analytics layer for the enterprise. Our product, Ana, is an AI data analyst that connects directly to a company's data warehouse to generate insights, reports, and embeddable analytics, turning questions into answers without a human analyst in the loop. We went from a 10-person team to working with some of the most demanding data organizations in healthcare, AI, and beyond.

The Role

You'll be the CEO's closest operating partner — the person who knows his priorities, owns the follow-through, and acts as a trusted proxy when he can't be in the room. This is a strategic apprenticeship at the operating core of a fast-growing company, not an administrative support role.

This is the highest-leverage seat in the company outside the founders. You will be the CEO's second brain and extended capacity: the person who always knows what his highest priorities are, where he needs to be, who he needs to talk to, and what can't slip. You'll have a front-row seat to executive decision-making every day, and over time you won't just observe those decisions, you'll make them on his behalf.

This is not an administrative role. It's a strategic apprenticeship at the operating core of a fast-growing company. We expect you to absorb how the CEO thinks, then act as a faithful proxy when he can't be in the room. You'll be exposed to sensitive client relationships, consequential deals, and high-stakes work, and you'll be trusted to move it forward.

What You'll Do

  • Be the CEO's force multiplier: Make his time, attention, and decision-making more effective. Always know the top priorities this week, surface what he's missing, and protect his focus from everything that isn't moving the company forward.
  • Operate as a trusted proxy: Shadow the CEO across internal and external meetings. Track every commitment, drive follow-through, and represent his thinking when he's not in the room. When a decision needs to be made and he's unreachable, you make the call.
  • Stay close to product: Maintain a deep, current understanding of the product roadmap. Translate between the CEO's intent and what the team is building, and make sure strategic decisions are grounded in where Ana is going.
  • Know the deals and the relationships: Develop intimate knowledge of our most important customer relationships and deal dynamics. Be able to brief the CEO in thirty seconds or step into an account when it matters.
  • Run the operating cadence: Drive the rhythms that keep the company aligned: leadership meetings, goal-setting and OKRs, company-wide updates.
  • Turn ambiguity into outcomes: Take a vague, important problem with no obvious owner and drive it to a decision or a shipped result. This is the core skill of the role.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within 30 days, you'll have a complete picture of the CEO's top priorities, the key accounts, and the product roadmap — and you'll be in every important room
  • Within 90 days, you'll own the operating cadence, be managing the CEO's commitments end-to-end, and have driven at least one significant cross-functional initiative to completion
  • Within 6 months, you'll be trusted to represent the CEO's thinking independently, have deep relationships with key customers and partners, and be functioning as a genuine extension of the founding team

About You

  • Typically 2–4 years of experience in a role that demanded structured thinking under pressure: management consulting, investment banking, business operations at a high-growth startup, or a founder background. We'll make exceptions for exceptional candidates — a highly motivated recent grad or someone with a year of experience who demonstrates the right judgment and drive is absolutely worth a conversation.
  • Exceptional judgment. You can hold competing priorities, sense what actually matters, and make good decisions with incomplete information
  • Elite communication. You write clearly, brief crisply, and can produce executive-level material that the CEO would send without editing
  • Comfort with ambiguity and pace. You thrive in a fast-moving, unstructured environment and treat "no one owns this yet" as an opportunity
  • Fluency with data and AI products. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be genuinely curious about our space and able to get smart fast on technical topics
  • Discretion and trust. You'll be exposed to the most sensitive information in the company. We need someone with impeccable integrity and zero ego
  • A bias toward ownership. You'd rather take responsibility for the outcome than the credit

What This Role Is Not

A chief of staff at a big company — this is a scrappy, high-trust seat at an early-stage company, and you'll be doing the work, not delegating it. A comfortable support role where you observe and report. You'll own outcomes and be measured on whether things actually happened.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a founder, operator, or CoS at an early-stage startup
  • Familiarity with enterprise SaaS, data, or AI markets
  • Experience working directly with a CEO or founder at a high-growth company
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort reading financial or operational data

Our Commitment To You

  • Tradeoff: This role will be the most demanding seat you've had. The pace is real, the trust runs deep, and the expectations are high. If you need defined scope, clear swim lanes, and predictable days — this isn't it. If you want to learn how a company is built from inside the cockpit and be trusted with the decisions that shape it, keep reading.
  • Why This Matters: TextQL is at an inflection point. We have product-market fit, a growing customer base, and real revenue. The CEO needs an operator beside him who can absorb and extend his capacity. If you're the right person, this role doesn't just accelerate your career — it defines how you operate as a leader for the rest of it.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Total Compensation: $175K-250K ($130K-175K base + equity)
  • Location: New York City, in-office
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); standard startup package
